Hey guys! I just found some really great free PS presets.
They are free for a limited time and look awesome but I haven’t figured out how to make them work on my CS2 yet. It could be that they only work with CS3 or that I am just doing this wrong, I’m not sure. Anyway, I hope it works for you! And maybe, if you have CS2 and it works for you, you can help me figure it out! haha. Samantha Nicole is one AMAZING photographer! I envy her Photoshop skills!
Also, has anyone seen or heard about the new Nikon D700?
I am in LOVE with it. I mean, I’m not lusting or anything, but I seriously want one! It is Nikon’s version of the Canon 5d. I went to my local photographer’s store for my lunch break yesterday to check it out but apparently they don’t actually come out until the end of the month. It will be around $3,000 retail which is about $2000 less than the Nikon D3. It is considered a professional camera (as is the D3, of course) and works on a 35mm format so the sensor is larger and the photos turn out looking more film-like (real life-like). It is as light as the D300 – which is a definite plus for me!
While I was at the store, I checked out some TS lenses (tilt-shift) – holy cow they are expensive (and heavy!) but they are pretty amazing.
This is how Wikipedia describes what the Tilt Shift Lens does:
“By blurring, the viewer’s gaze may be directed away from parts of the image the photographer wishes to de-emphasize. A smaller depth of field can also be simulated by bringing the foreground and/or background out of focus. Perspective can be corrected for by sharpening the focus of a foreground and background that would otherwise be inside the depth of field; in theory, perfect perspective correction happens when the planes of the lens, the image sensor, and the object being imaged all intersect.”
If you’re interested in seeing a T-S lens at work, here is Kevin Russ – a very talented flickrite who uses this lens a lot.
After checking out those MONSTROUS lenses, I went ahead and finally bought one of these:
I have been doing self portraits for a group on flickr for close to a year now – without a remote! It has been a pain in my arse.
Hello sweet remote!
